Three-way monitor design
The innovative design of the IN-8 2nd Wave means the mid-range and tweeter are combined using hyper-realistic imaging, providing all the advantages of a three-way monitor design. Because of this, the IN-8 monitor provides an incredibly accurate soundstage for mixing as you are able to hear each band in the frequency response more accurately to make better judgements for your mixing!
Kali’s LP-8 monitor was a huge success and the same woofer and tweeter are used in the IN-8’s. The IN-8 adds a midrange that surrounds the tweeter, acting as its waveguide to allow you to mix for longer as you won't suffer from fatigue as quickly when using the IN-8 2nd Wave. Instead of using the conventional tweeter with 3D imaging waveguides, the coaxial mid-high speaker limits the tip deflection, intermodulation distortion and more that can be introduced with standard waveguides. Not only that, but the design of the midrange speaker allows less stress to be placed on the tweeter and woofer amplifier, meaning you will hear less distortion with a more harmonious sound.
Unrivalled stereo image
The aforementioned mid-range speaker waveguide, the stereo performance of the IN-8 2nd Wave is extremely accurate, allowing you to pick out instruments within even the densest of metal or orchestral mix with ease! This means that when you are mixing, you will be able to make better decisions on the panning and spatial image of individual instruments in your songs, giving you a mix that translates much better on different systems like home hi-fis or car stereos.
Scientific crossovers
To ensure the cleanest signal with minimal distortion, the Kali Audio IN-8 2nd Wave has redesigned the crossover point to make sure you get the best performance from your speakers. A crossover frequency of 280Hz is tuned to the resonance of the baffle, making sure to eliminate any phase that may interfere with your signal and allowing an extended low-end frequency response down to 37Hz. Similarly, the crossover for the tweeter is 3kHz to reduce distortion in the high frequencies and produces a natural sound with extreme clarity. If you are feeling like your speaker is too boomy for your room, the newly adopted "boundary EQ" is there to help adapt your speaker to different rooms and environments to help eliminate any build-up that can cause your mix to sound muddy and dark.
