Questions & Answers
What are the key differences between the A7V and the previous A7X model?

The A7X was already a fantastic monitor, and the A7V builds on this strong heritage with several key upgrades. It features onboard DSP with two voicing options: UNR for accurate sound representation and Pure for a flat response ideal for critical listening. The A7V also boasts a complete cabinet redesign with integrated reflex ports and new MLM woofers made from a rigid, lightweight material. These enhancements result in a clearer lower mid-range and a more open high end, delivering improved sonic clarity compared to the A7X.

What calibration options does the A7V offer to improve sound in my room?

The A series offers various calibration options to suit your expertise and environment. Start by adjusting bass, desk presence, and treble with four bands on the back of the A7V. For more control, use the advanced six-band EQ in the A Control application. For more complex room issues, the Sonarworks Sound ID integration provides a system-wide or plugin solution, with a 60-day trial included. These options fine-tune your monitors by adjusting for room acoustics and compensating for issues like reflections or uneven frequency response, resulting in clearer, more accurate sound.

Why would I adjust the tweeter position on the A7V and how do I do it safely?

The A7V features a rotatable tweeter for better sound direction, especially useful when the tweeter is too high, like on a meter bridge. Rotating it won’t void the warranty, as it’s a built-in feature. To rotate safely, tape the waveguide, unscrew the four screws, rotate the tweeter, and screw it back in. Use a handheld Allen wrench to avoid damaging the threads.

In what situations would the A77H or A8H be a better choice than the A7V?

The A77H or A8H are better choices for larger rooms, offering more power, bass extension, and an immersive experience. The A77H delivers a punchy sound with dual 7-inch woofers, while the A8H bridges the gap between nearfield and midfield monitors, providing flexibility in placement. However, for smaller rooms or if you’re on a tighter budget, the A7V delivers excellent sound and flexibility at a more affordable price.

Expert Opinions
“Both technically, sonically and operationally, the A7V is one of the best nearfield monitors that I have heard at its price. If you are looking for an affordable, high‑quality two‑way active monitor speaker, you really should have a listen to the A7V.”

– Bob Thomas Sound On Sound

“In a good-sounding space the Pure mode is a joy to work with and I’d happily recommend the ADAM A7Vs to anyone looking for a quality set of nearfield monitors that won’t break the bank.”

– Greg Walker AudioTechnology

“I’d happily sit with the A7Vs for lengthy sessions, not experiencing fatigue nor boredom, but rather secure in the knowledge I’m getting an honest, revealing response with the clarity, depth, and openness one comes to expect from an ADAM Audio studio monitor.”

– Andy Lloyd-Russell Mixdown Mag

I upgraded from the T5Vs, which I really liked, but the A7Vs are a clear step up. The detail and clarity make a big difference, and I’m hearing things in my mixes I hadn’t noticed before. The DSP is handy for tweaking the sound to fit my space, but I mostly just set them up and got to work. Music sounds more defined, especially well-mastered albums, and they make it easier to catch problem areas like muddy low end when mixing. Definitely a worthwhile upgrade if you're moving up from smaller monitors.
